Kykeon: the mysterious drink of antiquity
Kikeon was an ancient Greek drink whose composition varied depending on the source. In Homeric references, it is associated with ingredients such as wine, barley, cheese or honey, while in the Eleusinian Mysteries it is referred to as a ritual drink. Period: ancient Greece. Connection with wine: in some ancient descriptions it includes wine.
Note: some modern theories suggest that Kikeon may have had psychoactive properties, but this remains a matter of debate and should not be presented as a certainty.
