Dikili Tash: One of the oldest indications of winemaking in Europe

At Dikili Tash, near Philippi in Kavala, Neolithic grape and pottery remnants dating to approximately 4300 BC were discovered. Archaeobotanical and organic analyses showed that the findings are linked to wine production, constituting one of the oldest confirmed indications of winemaking in Europe.

In simple terms: no "bottle of wine" was found, but grape seeds, grape processing residues, and traces inside vessels indicating that people of the Neolithic age knew the art of winemaking more than 6,000 years ago.
